Binchotan (Japanese Oak) activated charcoal is the highest grade of charcoal. These charcoals are from the Kishu region of Japan.
Binchotan charcoal is effective at absorbing odor, reducing water hardness, and improving the taste of drinking water. Filtering time is approximately 3-4 hours.
Reactivate charcoal every two weeks by boiling for 10 minutes and letting dry.
Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality.
Use 1 stick for 2 litres of water; each stick is approximately 0.75 inches to 1 inch (2 centimeters to 2.5 centimeters) in diameter and 4 centimeters (10 centimeters) in length.
